My son wanted spaghetti and I didn’t have any bulk sausage on hand, but I did have ground pork. This began my journey to find the best Italian sausage recipe that I can make at home with things I have on hand!
After we made it once, we have done it many times since because ground pork is much cheaper than bulk sausage (when buying individually or when buying a half/whole and getting it processed) and the cost of the ingredients is minimal comparatively.
We started our recipe by looking at the Homemade Italian Sausage Seasoning Recipe from Tastes of Lizzy T and making adjustments to make it a little bit more convenient and fit to our taste!
Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 pound of ground pork (could also use ground beef)
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
3/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
1/2 tablespoon onion powder
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients together in a bowl.
Place ground pork in a pan and start browning it.
Sprinkle dry ingredients over pork and mix until evenly mixed throughout pork.
Cook pork until completely browned.
Mix in pasta sauce, top on a pizza, eat plain, or however else you’d like your sausage!
